Achieving diversity in the IT workforce to grow the digital economy – how women AND men can make a difference

The shortage of women working in technology is not just a problem for women to overcome – men too need to help make the industry more diverse and reflective of society.

Survey after survey has found that businesses with diverse teams are more profitable, since a mixed team is a better reflection of a diverse customer base. The technology industry is facing a skills crisis, and both male and female IT professionals are in a prime position to encourage more people of all ages and both sexes into the sector.

In Computer Weekly’s third annual event for women in IT, we hear from women and men who are making a difference to the digital economy and how they have been successful in recruiting skills from a more diverse base onto their teams so far.

Ladies – why not bring a male colleague along with you too, who knows what they might learn…

“I found my mentor at the last Women in IT event. It was a great event. The speakers were amazing. The best part of it was the networking and the ability to meet other people in similar fields.”
