Bryan Glick Editor-in-Chief, Computer Weekly

 

Bryan is the editor in chief of Computer Weekly, the UK’s leading business technology publication. He is responsible for managing and developing all of Computer Weekly’s editorial content, covering the Computerweekly.com website, blogs, video, podcasts, web seminars, social media, events, community, the 90,000-circulation weekly e-book, and the CW500 IT leadership group.

Before joining Computer Weekly in November 2009, Bryan was editor of Computing, having worked on the publication since May 2000. Prior to becoming a journalist, he worked in the IT industry for more than 10 years, for companies including ICL, Intentia and Thomas Cook.

Ann Brown HR Director, Capgemini

 

Ann Brown is UK Human Resources Director for Capgemini and has been with the company since 2001. Ann has responsibility for the provision of all HR services to the UK business and for the Shared Services activity delivered both from UK and India for Global business lines. Her areas of responsibility include: pay and performance, learning and development, employee relations and co policy, international mobility, recruitment, senior resourcing and HR systems. During her time the company has undergone substantial employee transformation programmes merging with 3 legacy organisations and additionally absorbing significant numbers of employees into an integrated workforce through winning major Outsource contracts. Prior to Capgemini, Ann held International HR Director roles with COLT Telecom and Cable & Wireless. Ann is a Fellow of the CIPD and has been an HR professional for 25 years with a variety of IT and Telecoms organisations. She has a master’s qualification in executive coaching.

Gillian Arnold Chair of BCSWomen

 

Gillian has extensive experience in the IT industry and setup her own IT Services and Staffing company, Tectre in late 2009. Tectre provides sales, technical and HR services to the IT Vendors, Distributors and Resellers and have recently been offering Green IT and System Z consulting.

Most of Gillian’s early career was spent working for IBM in the UK and she held customer facing technical, sales, business development, strategic marketing and consultancy roles. She proved her expertise in managing and establishing teams for new products, and building teams with cross-industry and cross platform experience across EMEA and the UK.

Gillian has a long involvement with work for Women in IT. She currently sits on the board of Directors for the UKRC for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology, and is chair of the British Computer Society group for its female members; BCSWomen. Gillian is a finalist for the 2012 Everywoman In Technology awards.

Lesley Cowley Chief Executive, Nominet

 

Under Lesley’s leadership, Nominet has become a trusted guardian of a vital part of the UK internet economy, providing services that are relied upon by millions of businesses and consumers. Lesley serves on the Nominations Committee and the Development Working Group.

Respected within the international internet community, Lesley is Chair of ICANN’s Country Code Names Supporting Organisation. She is an advocate for the multistakeholder model of internet governance, and represents Nominet at a range of national and global events and forums.

Lesley was awarded an OBE for services to the Internet and e-commerce in 2011. In July 2012, Computer Weekly named Lesley as one of the top three most influential women in IT. In 2011, she also received a special commendation in the IOD’s Director of the Year Awards, and won the IOD Chairman's Award for London and South East.

Lesley is a Fellow of a number of respected bodies including; the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce; The Institute of Directors; The British Computer Society; The Institute of Credit Management and The Chartered Management Institute. She is a Freeman at The Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, a Member of The Inspirational Women Network, a Trustee of the Jenner Hall Trust and a STEM Ambassador to schools. Lesley has been Chief Executive of Nominet since 2002.

Nela Brown Doctoral Student in Interaction, Media and Communication, Queen Mary, University of London

 

Elizabeth Varley is a communicator, connector and entrepreneur with a background in technology, content and events. She is co-founder and CEO of TechHub - the space bringing together the global technology startup community, with its first launch in London's Silicon Roundabout in 2010, and recent openings in Latvian capital Riga, Prague, and San Francisco. Among TechHub's other projects, Elizabeth is currently working with the Prime Minister's Tech Team, the Mayor's Office, UKTI and the Technology Strategy Board to support tech startups in the UK via the Tech City project. In 2002 Elizabeth was a consultant on ITbeat with e-Skills UK – a project to encourage girls to get involved in IT and new media.
