SEMINAR
The New Rules of Backup and Data Protection Jon William ToigoMore likely than not, your next disaster will be a data disaster. Having spent the past 50 years amassing unmanaged data and deploying it on poorly managed infrastructure, then working to make our data available via impossible-to-secure networks, our irreplaceable asset – our data – is at greater risk in 2013 than at any time in history.
The challenge is to create a data protection strategy that works to reduce risk of catastrophic loss, corruption and disclosure, using the right technologies, and that is sustainable over time. Brand new for 2013, The New Rules of Backup and Data Protection combines two of our most popular seminars (Next-Gen Backup School & Disaster Recovery for the 21st Century) into one full-day educational experience where attendees can get all the info they need into the tools and best practices that will bring their data backup and disaster recovery plans to the next level. Register today by calling Mike Parisi at (617) 431-9718 or completing our quick online registration form. |

One of the nice things about Microsoft Hyper-V is its relative simplicity compared with competing server virtualization platforms. It tends to be stable and reliable, but storage-related issues can and sometimes do occur. This can lead to failed backups, corrupt virtual machines and even host server crashes.
Today, many data centers operate on a 24-hour schedule, and setting aside a designated backup window is simply no longer an option. As such, backups must be performed in a way that prevents them from becoming disruptive to the workloads that are running on the production servers. One way of accomplishing this is through a serverless backup.
Anyone who has ever tried backing up Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 using the built-in backup utilities knows that Windows Backup (and Windows Server Backup) leave a lot to be desired. Although these backup tools are alive and well in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, Microsoft has made some big changes that should make the native backup utilities much more tolerable.
